Changes Mural

The “Changes” mural represents one of the biggest art productions within youth work context in Ireland.  This piece of art, which is 48ft long, allowed approximately 50 young people from Drimnagh to engage in an artistic process to express their views and perceptions of change.  The designing of the mural involved serious exploration of human society and allowed the participants to recognise how society is forever changing and the impact that these changes can have on their own personal lives. Part of the aim of this project was to bring young people together in a collective collaboration in producing something bigger than their individual ideas.  It is aimed to encompass the community spirit among the young people.

The mural is being displayed outside the Centre, visible to the 30,000+ who use the Luas Red line every day. Some of the panels from the mural had been entered into an art competiton with Luas and the "N" panel was given a special merit award and is part of the 2009 Luas calendar. The young people involved in this section of the mural were given their prizes on the night.

The launch of this outdoor mural coincided with a visit by a group of over 30 young people from Copenhagen, who are visiting Dublin to find out about activities for young people in Dublin.
